About the Author


Douglas J. Wood practices law in New York City as a partner with Reed Smith LLP and has over thirty-eight years' experience representing national and multinational companies in advertising and unfair competition, intellectual property, e-commerce, contracts, labor law in the entertainment industry, publishing, television and motion picture production and distribution, and national and international mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships. His is General Counsel to the Association of National Advertisers and the Ad Council and legal adviser to the Interactive Advertising Bureau, the Advertising Research Bureau, AHAA - the Voice of Hispanic Marketing, the International Advertising Association, and the Mobile Marketing Association. Mr. Wood is the advertising industry's lead negotiator opposite the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the American Federation of Musicians in connection with the collective bargaining agreements that cover performers in commercials and digital marketing media. The SAG-AFTRA agreement is the largest in the entertainment business, valued at over $3 billion. He is also author of Presidential Intentions, a fictional novel about the first woman candidate for President of the United States and of three advice books: 101 Things I Want to Say to My Son, Joshua, on Graduating College; 101 Things I Want to Say to My Daughter, Meghan, on Beginning College; and 101 Things I Want to Say to My Daughter, Andrea, on Beginning Her Career. Mr. Wood is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, and Bucharest, Romania. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Franklin Pierce Law Center, where he is past Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He received a Master of Law degree in trade regulation from New York University School of Law and an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Rhode Island.
