The lives of three generations of women intertwine in the Scottish stone cottage of Agatha, a spinster aunt with more than a helping of spunk.

And gentle Aunt Agatha wonders what would have happened if she'd made room in her life for romance and adventure, instead of just for family.

Told from the perspective of each woman, The Thorn Tree weaves together the complexities of love and life for each generation, and shows the strength of family ties.

Originally from Kilmarnock, Scotland, Heather G. Marshall is a writer currently based in the foothills of South Carolina, where she lives with her children, dogs, a set of bagpipes and a Royal Enfield motorcycle. Her fiction and creative nonfiction are published in a variety of periodicals — mostly recently in Northwords Now, Prime Number and Six Minute Magazine. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte.
