Description
During the psychiatric interview, the patient's speech is used to assess their level of language proficiency. Any observation of clumsy articulation, disordered rhythm, difficulty understanding or choosing words, or history of difficulty with spoken or written language should be noted and further investigated. By asking the patient to point to a single object and then to point to a number of objects in a specific order, language comprehension is tested.
